To begin, the city of Severance is quite... large...
The city of Severance covers as much area as Tokyo, but without the lack of room to expand. Severance lies next to the ocean, in the northern hemisphere, quite a distance from the equator. It's latitude is close to England's, putting Severance in a temperate zone. This means Severance experiences intense, humid summers, while also experiencing face-numbing winters. That's right! Come to Severance to experience the world at its extremes!
As for the city itself, it is divided into districts, much like Tokyo. You'll have your commercial districts, divided into other sections depending on the market, your industrial districts (usually in the east), and the residential districts. While you can find housing just about anywhere in the city, there's one area that is solely used for housing. (detailed map coming ASAP)
To the south, there's a beach, obviously. It's on the ocean. However, a narrow, yet deep river splits the city in half. This river (Severe River) drains into the ocean as well. There are many ways to cross the river, be it bridges or ferries, or other boats. There's even a hovering trolley! Use your imagination on this stuff!
To the north, there's a dense forest, complete with deciduous and coniferous trees. Legend has it that the woods give home to strange beasts and peoples, such as the fabled tribe of natives which is thought to be extinct. There's also word of military and technological establishments being scattered throughout the area of the Great Northern Forest.
To the east, are the plains. A lot of the area to the east has been irreversibly damaged through nuclear and laser weapons testing. For about 60 miles out of the city, are lush, green fields, full of life, agriculture, and other things that symbolize life. Outside of 60 miles, everything slowly loses color and animation. Eventually, one will find the Eastern Wastelands and its absence of life and color, home to the world's tallest piles of ash. Some even claim there is a region where time has halted completely. This area is commonly referred to as the Great Breech.
Finally, to the west, one will find the plains slowly transitioning to desert, until the coast takes a sudden turn to the north, driving the desert into taiga and tundra. Rumour has it that a few tribes of nomadic peoples litter the area, living in small packs. These deserts and tundras are the prime sites for mining of resources.
Hope that helps! I'll have a map up ASAP
