Virginia returned to the nurses' station after giving out the last of the bedtime medication. The last of the visitors had shuffled out of the doors and gone home.
It's a rather quiet night, she thought to herself.
One of the night shift nurses walked past, they both gave a smile and a nod, waiting to see what the rest of the night would bring.

Hopefully, the night wouldn't bring much. Caleith Vryre, or Calvin Altaire as he was known to those earthbound peoples, was making his own rounds through the hospital, as he often did. He did so more for surveillance rather than spiritual guidance and comfort, as he usually made it a point to see just HOW dedicated the doctors and nurses were to their jobs. A good indicator of just how corrupt a world might be is its hospitals, and the people running the place.
One might find it odd to see the priest out at this late hour, especially after visitation hours, though they had made an exception for this one, at Our Lady of Lourdes. This one was one of the frequenters, officially recognized by the hospital's management.
Upon entering, he smiled and nodded at the woman at the front desk, burly as she was. He always made it a point to stroll by the nurse's station to get a briefing on who NOT to visit, which is what brought him to Nia's presence.
"Evening," said the angel, masquerading as a priest. "It's a beautiful night, yeah?"

Nia looked up from her paper work and at the man and smiled, "Yes, Father. It's a very beautiful night..... What brings you out this late?"

Caleith... Erm... Calvin smiled a bit.
"Oh, nothing much. I simply felt compelled to visit. I just feel like someone might be in need of some spiritual guidance, so I thought I might make some late night rounds. If nothing else, I'll just be on-hand in case someone wants a bedside confessional," he said, ever so warmly. "Besides, these are troubled times. We all need to pitch in here and there to help lighten each other's loads every now and again, don't you think?"
The warmth in his eyes was almost sickening... To him... Never had he laid the charm and cheer so thickly on his speech. He was beginning to wonder if maybe he was pushing TOO hard to go under the radar.

Nia nods, "I agree, these are troubled times." She pauses for a moment, a call light near the station sounding. "Oh, it's Mr. Seward again.... He's been having a rough time these past few nights. Maybe you'd like to come with me to talk to him." She looks through his charts and heads towards his room.

Father Calvin nodded.
"Absolutely. It's the least I can do to talk to a troubled man. If you need any help treating him, I'm a qualified care giver. I can help with most tasks if need be," explained Calvin as he followed the nurse.

Nia crosses the hall and enters the room. "Good Evening, Mr. Seward, how is everything?"
The man looks at her and snarls, "I'm in a fucking hospital! How do you think everything is?"
"Now, now, Mr. Seward, there's no need for that type of language. Espcially in front of the father...." She looks over his IV lines and the morphine drip. "What was it you called for?"
"I want to know what the hell is wrong with me!" He spits on her nurses smock.
"Our doctors are doing the best that they can." her smile never fading, she cleans up the spit and looks at Father Calvin. "Perhaps you can talk to him, Father...." There is a simple pleading look in her eye.

"Sure," said the good father, as he turned to get a better look at the man. He was about to step into the room himself and sit by his side, when he caught a quick glimpse of what seemed to be two puncture wounds on the side of the neck. At this, he perked an eyebrow.
"Uhhh, Nia... May I speak with you out in the hall, briefly?" he asked. He exchanged her pleading eyes for some inquiring eyes.

She tosses the towel into the biolaundry hamper and nods to Calvin, "Yes." She turns to the patient, "Mr. Seward, I'll be right back." Upon exiting the room she turns to the Father, "What is it?"

Time for more acting. With Caleith's three thousand years of existence, he was almost 110% certain about his hunch, but he had to appear human.
"I'm not sure about this, and it may jsut be a coincidence," he began, shifting his eyes back to the door. "And I'm not sure what you're gonna think of me asking about this,... But have you seen his neck? The wounds on his neck? They appear to be puncture wounds. Judging by the spacing, I'd have to say something bit him."
He appeared in thought for a moment as he slowly paced the area outside the room.
"What are his symptoms?"

"I had noticed that." Nia flips through the chart she holds in her hands. "Well, he was brought in about four nights ago. It says here that he was unconscious, lethargic, and showing severe signs of dehydration. The ER doctor noted the marks but was more worried when his testing showed that he appeared to have massive blood lost." She flips a few more papers. "They've given him at least seven transfusions, and it wasn't until yesterday, that I know of, that he had regained consciousness. He's been rather passive for some time, I'm not sure what caused all this tonight." She flips to the last page, "The doctor requested that he be placed on my floor so I could watch him...... Since my own condition has given me much time to work with people who suffer from anemia."
The man yells out to the hall, "Damnit, woman! I want some answers! Get my doctor!
Nia steps to the door, "I'm sorry Mr. Seward, but Dr. De 'lespoir will not be in until morning." She turns to Calvin, "My husband, Amour, is his specialist. Blood disorders..... It's how we met." She smiles and blushes. "I'm sorry you didn't need to know that...."
"I WANT HIM NOW! And I want out of here! Oh god, the pain.... NURSE, HELP ME!"
Nia calmly walks into the room, "Mr. Seward, Now...." She pauses, the man reaching up to pull her up close to him. "Please, Mr Seward, release me and I will help with your pain." He drops back to the bed and writhes in pain. "I'm going to increase the level of morphine, this will take a moment to enter your system and dampen the pain." She enters a code into the machine it beeps in response. "There... Now it sould only be a moment."
The man sighs as the drug begins to take effect, "Oh, thank you, thank you...." He drifts off in a restless slumber.
Nia walks out the room, "I'm sorry for that, Father, is there anything else you'd like to know?"

Shaking his head, Calvin proceeded to speak, finding it best not to get too involved.
"No, that's it, I think... Perhaps I'll just speak with him as he wakes up, though if you don't mind, I would like to sit by his side and... pray..." said the masterful actor. "Perhaps putting his soul at ease..."

Nia nods, "Yes, perhaps that would be best for him.... I'll be at the nurses' station if you need anything.

He nodded.
"Thank you..." said Calvin, entering the patient's room and pulling up a chair beside him. He would also reach into the desk drawer beside him and remove the Bible, cracking it open as if to study. Hopefully Nia wouldn't think too much of this whole situation. The less people knew, the better.

Nia's head pops into the room, "Father? I don't mean to interupt, but could I get you anything to drink? You're more than welcome to have anything from the nurses' refrigerator...."
