Kayala remained silent as they traveled through the forest. She could not say for sure if they were even going the right direction, considering her destination was somewhere that she herself had never actually been. She wondered what the place of lights would look like. She looked around at the forest atmosphere, comfortable and friendly-looking to her. She wondered if it felt the same way to her companion, but lacked enough command of his language to ask him. That was another point that often worried her. "Place of Lights" was the only description in his language she knew for what she was looking for. She wasn't sure that he even understood what she had meant. She wasn't even sure she knew what she meant. Her brother had talked about it often, but she had trouble remembering what exactly he had said. The memories were coming back slowly and surely, but she suspected they would reach their destination before she had full command of them.
Seeing a familiar looking mushroom, she ran quickly towards it, and then froze. Was that the edible kind? Was that why she knew it? Or was it poisonous, and that was why she had memories of it? She looked quickly back at Memnot, as if he could be the source of answers for her. Again she found herself lacking the words to ask him. She thought about it for a moment, searching for the few words they had discussed. She pointed to the mushroom, and then said, "Eat yes?" and paused. then she began to wonder if that was the right one. She wasn't so sure between "yes" and "no". "No eat?" She tried rephrasing.

Memnot's orbs gazed around the country side. Always alert, he was one to notice some of the most minuet details of an object. Walking with Sapphire on his right side and his new found companion Kayala on his left, Memnot made his way through the land. Suddenly the female looked down and approached a mushroom. He made a quick laugh as he looked to Sapphire and spoke Telepathically to her " Go smash that poisonous mushroom before she needs to be cared for again" As sapphire approached the said mushroom Memnot took a quick stroll down memory lane of the meeting of Kayala.
It was a normal day of what Memnot and Sapphire loved to do, walking. It was about mid day when a scream erupted in the near vicinity of the pair. Memnot curious of what the girl-ish like scream originated from, he took a brisk pace towards the sound. Never rushing to much and making sure he kept his eye out for certain anomalies; mainly being other people or things being out of place. Finding a young girl bring under attack, sapphire went and took care of the beast while he tended to the young lady.
Now being only a third day since the happening they were traveling. Memnot quickly jumped back to reality " Mushroom bad" he made jesters towards his throat in a choking manor, and closed his eyes. Feeling very foolish but hoping the motions helped. Looking down at her, he spoke softly " Memnot" and pointed at himself, "Sapphire " and pointed and the wolf that was now laying down at Kayala's feet. In turn he pointed at her, hoping the point was made.

Kayala frowned, stepping away from the mushroom. She had to assume that this meant it was poisonous. She tried to ignore the headache she got when she tried to remember these things. "Kayala." She said slowly, as if she wasn't too sure herself. She remembered the ferret on her shoulder, she had become so used to its presence that she barely acknowledged it anymore. "Jun." She said simply, and the ferret seemed to shift around a bit. She wondered if she sounded stupid to the man she was traveling with, and wished that she had paid a little more attention when her brother spoke in the tongue of the place of lights. Then again, maybe she had paid attention, and just couldn't remember it. She wished that she would know these things again soon.
She looked as far as she could in front of them with sharp eyes. She had done this often, as if waiting for some sign that they were in the place of lights. She hoped that after three days they had at least made it half way there, but had no way of telling. Another problem was beginning to arise. She was thirsty. They had been through this two days ago, and she was sure that he said the word she needed to know to ask for a drink. But the more she wracked her brain, the larger her headache grew. Eventually she managed to pull at least one word from their earlier conversation. "Water?" She said in a hopeful tone. She was sure that was the word she needed. Or at least she hoped it was.

As the girl tried dug for he memories Memnot would watch her closely. Examining the strain in her voice as she tried to say, to him, some of the easier words of the language. Memnot's curiously listened to her as she tried to utter her name. Finally it erupted from her lips ' Kayala'. As she spoke she seemed nervous, almost unsure if that was her name. This was not a new thing for Memnot but it happened mor e with the elderly. Then his own memory was triggered of when she hit her head during the confrontation that he had helped her escape.
" It is a good name, Kayala". Memnot was an intellectual person or at least though of himself as one. Sapphire arose from her lethargic position and walked towards Memnot. Yet another name erupted from the young lady's lips as Sapphire was on her path towards him, 'Jun'. Memnot's eyes scaled her body, from foot to head, letting his eyes take in the information of her being.
Memnot's head turned slowly in 360 degree fashion. Looking at which way he should go. 'Water', yet another word was added to the young lady's repertoire. " Yes....water....hmmm" Memnot's attention turned to Sapphire, with only a look she was off heading north. " Sapphire will find us some, we stay until she returns"

Kayala blinked a few times, trying to figure out what the man was attempting to say to her. She saw the wolf run off in a direction and assumed she must have spoken the wrong word. "No." She said, hoping this was the right word at least. She made the motion of putting water to her mouth. She stared at him a little more, wondering what the word she had said earlier must have meant to make him send the wolf away. She thought of the name, what he had called the wolf. "Sapphire." She stated, trying to hide her frustration. 'Why did Sapphire leave?' is what she wanted to ask him, but 'Sapphire' was the only word she could manage. She hoped at least that the confused tone of voice would show what she was trying to say to him.

Rayne ran through the woods silently, she was rather frustrated at this point. no matter how hard she tried she couldn't find that one village. It had been days already since she had left the city. she felt like she was wandering in circles. She didn't come across much really. A few animals here and there that darted away when they saw her. But no people. None at all. And certainly not the burnt remains of her home.
She sighed stopping, a bit out of breath and leaning against a tree. that was when she picked up on it. It was faint but her brown ears twitched as she picked up the sound of someone saying a word. 'water' it had sounded like. She was a ways away but she wondered maybe if she found this person or people, whoever it was, if they would know where the village was. With that she broke into a run again, she knew she was close when she saw a wolf nearby her run past. It was odd to see a wolf alone here. She could also hear them, slight movements and such.
She hid amongst the trees now about 30 feet away. She saw both people now, a man and teenage girl. She wasn't sure if it was smart to approach them or not... They could be people of the forest. Savages and the like. She hid herself behind a tree and watched... For now that was all she really could do. She was very wary around people she didn't know but to thick headed and cocky to not be around them.

Memnot's eyes looked into Kayala's trying to hopefully earn some kind of link. He looked around puzzled trying to find a form of communication. He figured to act like she was un able to hear and use motions to try and get his point across. Hoping for the best he made notion as if he had a cup and drank from it, then shook his head. Noticing the connection that he seemingly made from Sapphire he spoke "Sapphire go find.." and did the action once more. He started walking towards the way she had left getting a feeling that there was dew in the air.
Sapphire suddenly sent him a message telepathically. Water is only a mile away, head towards me; i will watch your approach.
" Milady, let's go" he made a motion with his hand to follow

Kayala understood the hand motion and moved quickly to follow Memnot. She had been starting to get an uneasy feeling about the trees, anyways. An old enemy was it? Or perhaps an old friend. Either way, she didn't enjoy the feeling. "vunacd bnudald ic." (forest protect us.) The words slipped from her mouth in her native tongue. She remembered that had been a prayer that her tribesman had often uttered. These words ran more fluidly from her, unlike the english words she was so unused to pronouncing.
She nodded her head as she caught up with Memnot, taking a steady stride beside him. She wondered if the water was far out of the way...Still, she would be glad to restock her supply. She had drained her canteen dry sometime last night, and had been too uncomfortable to say anything about it.

Rayne listened to them some more. It appeared that the girl was unable to speak English or was very bad at it anyway. She heard more about water. They seemed to be talking about water. She wouldn't mind some herself. Maybe she would follow them and wait till the left to gather some or even come out in the open to drink with them. Her ears twitched again as she caught the words that the girl said. She recognized the language but she couldn't quite translate it. It had been years since she'd spoken that language or even heard it. Around the doctor she'd always had to speak english. He got mad at her when she spoke her native tongue.
Sighing she walked slowly behind them. She wasn't sure why but there was a familiar air around them. Or at least one of them. At this point she couldn't really be sure. It bugged her a lot though because she wasn't sure if it was good or bad. In her thoughts she tripped over a root and fell letting out a small squeak of a yell. She quickly clasped her hand over her mouth, regained her balance and continued to follow, unsure if she'd been heard or not. After all the two seemed only human, was there hearing that great?

Memnot let a sigh of relief escape his lips as Kayala began to follow him on his departure. It seems that this one needed a few extra calamities as far as knowing when and what. It was humorous to Memnot know how he had to motion his thoughts as if he was in a big dramatic play. Then, words flowed from Kayala like a breaking damn, seemingly her native tongue. Not knowing what it meant and being to parched of thirst himself he didn't care much, she was still following and didn't seem in mortal danger.
Memnot's digits fell down to his waist, grabbing a canteen filled with a water. It was only a quarter left, but the young one didn't know that. Memnot, being the gentleman he is, started to 'drink' he took only a sip but acted like he took 3 gulps. Motioning the girl to come over and drink with his hands then followed with the play-like action of him drinking.
Memnot looked around as if hearing a little whimper. It was semi-close by, but it was not what was important. Memnot contacted Sapphire once more Come check on this whimper i have heard, i am parched and i'm sure you have refilled your stamina. Knowing it will be done, he awaited for Kayala's reaction. " Here goes nothing"

Kayala smiled when she saw the canteen, and she walked over and grabbed it. After shaking it a little to figure out how much was left, she drank the smallest portion she could that would satisfy her. There didn't seem to be much left, but she supposed that Memnot knew what he was doing. She had to trust that, after all, it's not like she could ask. She made a mental note to watch him speak as often as she could, and try and sort out the meanings of things. She remembered a word from when her brother used to speak to her, but when Memnot said it it didn't seem to make any sense to her. "Nothing" She repeated, blinking a few times. That was an absence of anything, her memory told her. She didn't know how it applied, so had to assume it was just an expression, like her prayer.
Kayala stiffened when she heard the muffled whimper. She wondered if they were being followed, but decided that Memnot must have sent Sapphire to check on it as she saw the beast padding away towards the source of the noise. She let out a long sigh, taking in her surroundings. Feeling refreshed from the drink of water, she jumped for the nearest tree branch and swung herself up. She climbed all the way to the top in a matter of seconds, an almost goofy grin on her face the entire time. She wondered if she could see the place of lights from where she was. Even if she couldn't, it felt nice to be above the trees.

Rayne saw the wolf approaching and stiffened. Her immediate thought was to transform into her fox form, and that's just what she did. It was her reaction to most thoughts of being caught. The small brownish colored fox didn't stay still. It quickly ran out from it's hiding place and darted out past the wolf, going near another tree. It took her a moment but realized that it was the tree that that girl had just climbed into. Also she was in plane sight of the man. Still she was a small animal now. Nothing suspicious about that and unless she wound up in any serious danger or for some other reason had to change back she didn't plan on it.

Sapphire watched the young girl transform and did nothing about it towards the young girl but did what her master wanted her to do. Howl like there was no tomorrow. This howl was of a severe nature, allowing everyone to here, most importantly Memnot, and let the now fox, Rayne, know she did not get away free. Memnot's eyes darted towards the direction of the ear splitting wail that erupted from the lungs of his companion. Averting his eyes from the female he watched as a fox darted towards his direction, surely this was not of which Sapphire howled about. Or so he thought.
Sapphire made her approach, stopping the howl that she held so much pride in, and rightfully so. Memnot looked at her and wanted an anwser, so he got one. FOX! was the only word that he needed. Memnot wondered his next move. He could yell at the fox, and scare it or maybe he could fight the fox. Then it hit him, was Sapphire trying to hunt? Was this just an animal that maybe pissed her off? His mind wondered a bit as Sapphire snarled towards the tree.

Rayne growled right back at the animal showing no fear at all. Sure the wolf was larger than her now but she wasn't afraid. She'd fought plenty of fights in this form as well as her other. She did back up a little though. If it wound up a fight between her, the fox, and two humans that would be another story. She would then flee to a safe spot to change back and possibly throw them off. So she just kept growling, keeping her distance from them, waiting for something to happen, to see if there would be a fight.

Kayala saw the growling animal and the small fox, and wondered what was going on between the two of them. Was the wolf hunting, or was this the source of the sound from before? Either way, she wasn't too keen on the small animal getting hurt. It was either of two things : a normal fox about to meet it's unfortunate end, or a shape shifting forest dweller in trouble. She would pity it either way, and so took action to hopefully end the conflict. "Lusehk drnuikr!" She yelled, plummeting down the tree and landing in front of the fox. "No." She added, using one of the few words that she understood. She blinked at Memnot, and then looked back at the wolf. "No." She repeated, this time in the wolf's direction. She had no idea if the wolf could understand her, but she wanted to make sure she got her point across if nothing else.
