As he sat down on the stool, Shumei rested his head onto his right hand, held up like you would expect to see a teenager do during the lectures of their most boring teachers, staring vacantly into nothingness. Yawning, Shumei rubbed at his eyes, wondering what the time even was. All he knew for certain was that it was dark, and his body was growing tired. As he brushed his bangs from his face, he looked now at the bar tender, who greeted him with a cheerful grin.
"Hey kid, need a pick me up? You're new, and you look a little down; tell me what you want, and it'll be on the house." stated the bartender, his old, worn face etching a smile under his thick, gray mustache. Both his eyes visible, Shumei opened only his right eye, which looked at the kind old man with a dull, but friendly look.
"Do you have any... sake?" asked Shumei, a faint smirk on his face. The old bar tender smiled, laughing.
"Ah, so you're from that area! I thought you looked like you were... your hair threw me off, though. Yes, I'll get you some right away."
As the bar tender went to fetch the drink, Shumei simply grinned, closing his eyes as he allowed his bangs to cover his left eye again.
'A friendly old man... I guess the hair really does throw people off, though. I'll bet he thinks I'm just one of the young guys, dying my hair to be cool. Too bad I'm old enough to actually be this guys grandfather...' thought Shumei to himself, allowing himself to chuckle softly.

About that time, Lukas would enter through the front door. He wasn't wearing anything too conspicuous, just some long, grey jeans, and a black t-shirt. He had just finished off a group of demon hunters in the park, and it showed on his jeans, which were spattered with blood in places on the legs. That wasn't exactly what one might call strange, though.
And that was good for Lukas... He ended up taking a seat next to the other man at the bar, the one who ordered the sake. He wasn't looking to speak to him though. Speaking only meant learning that someone might be a demon hunter, meaning another massacre would be in order, regardless of the innocent patrons.
"Scotch... Now..."

Hearing the door open, Shumei simply kept his gaze straight ahead. Whoever had just entered possessed a very strange aura... something in the air made him seem unnatural. Taking a breath, he noticed the faint smell of blood, as the man took a seat beside of him. Looking through his bangs off to the side, Shumei began to examine the man. On a glance, the man didn't appear to be carrying any weapons, but had somehow become splattered in blood. Careful not to look over, Shumei folded up his right arm, setting it onto the counter, resting his head on his hand lackadaisically.
"Run into trouble somewhere in the city? Looks like this city might be more violent than I first expected." stated Shumei, his voice showing little expression, other than idle curiousity.
As his mind began wondering, Shumei looked down to see that the bar tender had already placed his cup of sake in front of him. Picking it up with his left hand, he tilted the cup back and forth, observing the steam coming from the drink. Focusing, he imagined the liquid of the cup in his mind, pulling little particles of red away from the sake. Almost instantly, the drink cooled, causing a small crack to appear on the cup. Taking a sip, Shumei continued with his little bored facade, hoping to make the man feel comfortable enough to talk about whatever happened. Something was amiss with him... and Shumei wanted to know what.

Lukas turned to face the man with sake, showing him a rather disgruntled expression.
"It's the gang-bangers," he replied. His eyes appeared rather blank, void of emotion, only adding to the anger in his voice. Hopefully, the anger would put the man off so he wouldn't have to further protect the reality of the night's events. As the scotch made it to the bar, Lukas didn't hesitate to turn away from the man. Before the tender would be able to walk away with the bottle, though, Lukas would snatch it away and set it on the bar.
"I believe this is mine," he said, tossing back the first shot.

Shumei smirked, his face hidden behind his bangs, before brushing them to the side. He could tell that this man had ran into a large amount of trouble. Or, at least for a normal person a lot of trouble. Shumei had seen no signs of injury on the man, confirming the notion that the blood was not from the man. Taking another drink, Shumei looked into the cup, blanking staring at the sake.
"It seems you took care of everything alright. I know what it's like to be messed with by gang-banging punks. Enjoy the scotch, it's on me. You seem like you could use it." he said, taking another drink.
Hopefully, the man could calm down enough for Shumei to switch the conversation over to what he really wanted to ask, concerning some of the rumours that had been floating around about the city, and some... different inhabitants.

"Don't bother," he said, shaking his head. "I never intended on paying for this slop."
Lukas was feeling some familiar energies resonating from his drinking partner for the night. Anyone in the know would know that the energy is domestic to the half-demon variety. Though this one was different. There wasn't any real human quality to the resonance of energy. The wavelength was the same, but the vibrations in between didn't match.
"Tell me," he began, pouring another shot into the glass. "Where are you from?"

Finishing off the drink, Shumei set his cup down, looking over at his new pal. His bangs fell back into their usual spot, covering the entire left side of his face. His almost crystal-like blue hair exposed only an equally blue right eye, which seemed to glow with energy. It relieved Shumei that the man had seemed to notice the similarity in their auras, as it cut off most odds of a conflict. Noticing that the bar tender was busy elsewhere, he felt the ability to speak completely freely.
"I suppose I'd have to say Japan, as it's where my mother was from, and where I grew up when I was young... back then, it was just after the first great war, during the Taisho and Showa eras. So, how about yourself... where and when do you hail from?" he stated, brushing his bangs aside.
It had been a good while since he talked to anyone about his origins. However, Shumei had figured that this man had been through as much, if not more of the worlds events as he had himself.

Lukas pointed over his shoulder with his thumb.
"That way. I've generally lived around here my whole existence. Not HERE, here, but in the general area. I spent most of my time in the forest, outside of this cursed city. Away from the humans who find genocide to be the only solution to a non-existent problem. As you should well know, we demons aren't exactly evil. We're not exactly looking for trouble all the time. We don't kill aimlessly, those of us that aren't solely animals, anyways," said the half-demon, catching himself before going into a full-blown rant.
"How long have you been here?"

"I just arrived in the city today. I've been traveling the world for over a hundred years now, just seeing what the world has to offer. I was a few cities over when I heard some... rumours about a city called Severance. Have you heard any rumours? Or, better yet... do you feel a strong, dark presence in the city?" asked Shumei, setting both of his arms onto the counter.
Shumei wanted to make certain that his senses weren't tricking him. When he had arrived earlier in the day, he thought he had felt a small, dark force, but as the day began to fade, he was certain that it was getting stronger.

"I've heard plenty of rumours," he began, pouring some more scotch into the glass. "Rumours that clans of demon hunters are in the midst of this city. I'd very much like to eliminate every last one of them, as a means of life-security for myself and what's left of my brethren, as most of them have been vanquished. Ironically, the dark presence in this city is strong, even through the masses of hunters who reside here. Whatever it is, I hope the intentions are good, so I might validate myself as an aide to whoever it may be that's responsible."
He tossed back another shot.
"It seems to be growing as the night grows darker, so whoever it is must be nocturnal, for sure."

"Nocturnal... without a doubt. I've been to many, many places over the past century, and only once have I felt an energy similar to this one. The energy feels similar to that of... a vampire, I believe. And there are demon hunters here as well? Thanks for the heads up. Demon hunters are about the only people I'll kill on sight."
Tilting his head back, Shumei fixed his eyes onto the ceiling, recalling images of packs of demon hunters chasing after him.
"So, I don't believe we've introduced ourselves. My name's Shumei. What might you go by?"

Lukas grinned.
"Vector... Lukas Vector. And you're quite welcome. We need to band together to cease the uprising of demon hunters. Demons are people too, after all, and I'm not saying that to be cliche as you might've known. Yes, a vampire for sure. I've been around quite a few centuries myself. I just needed someone else to confirm my suspicion. Kinda odd how a vampire might have such a strong resonance, eh?"

"Ah, so you've seen a lot. I'm... oh, hell, I think I'm 135 years old now... somewhere around that. And it is unusual for a vampire to have that powerful of an energy. This means they have been around for longer than we have, or maybe has fed off of demons as well as humans. A normal vampire shouldn't be that strong. Another thing... does the city reek of death to you?"
|
|
|
Post by Lukas Vector on Jun 24, 2008 21:40:41 GMT -5
"Yes, it does... The scent is almost overpowering at times. It could be because of those dead bodies that never fully turned vampire after being attacked. Or perhaps much worse, there's the possibility of necromancy, in which case, even WE might be screwed," he replied, shaking his head. He looked as if he was ready to pour another shot, but decided instead to just take a swig form the bottle. Alcohol didn't effect demons the same as humans, so it was all good.
"I'm 400... something, I think... I don't really care. I'm gonna be here awhile, so why count?" he grinned.

"Necromancy... yes, it's indeed a problem. I've not dealt with it much, but I do know that reanimated corpses aren't too fond of fire. Against all normal logic, I can actually create a fairly effective fire." stated Shumei, as he raised his left arm, looking at the scar between his middle and ring finger that ran up to his elbow. This was a reminder to him of what his ice abilities were capable of.
"So... what kind of demon are you? I'm half Ice Elemental myself... thus the odd, semi-transparent hair."
